English soccer clubs are attracting investors from the United States. Premier League clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool already have American owners. Recently, AFC Bournemouth became the latest addition to the list, with a consortium led by Las Vegas-based businessman Bill Foley taking over. The minority owners of the club with Folley are Hollywood actor Michael B. Jordan and Foley’s business partner, Nullah Sarker.

Folley already owns a team, Vegas Golden Knights, in the NHL. However, this would be Jordan’s first investment in sports. Folley already has laid out a plan for how Jordan will help the English club grow.

Michael B. Jordan will be Bournemouth’s face

Bill Foley is pretty clear about what role the Hollywood actor will play as a co-owner. When asked whether Jordan’s acting skills will be used, Foley said, “He’s a lot better than I am! He will help us develop that international fanbase.”

Speaking about his plans, Foley further added, “He will be involved on the marketing side, on developing new gear. We have an idea about another situation that will have to be revealed in the future. That’s going to be interesting. He’ll be here on Saturday, he’ll be on the pitch waving at people and talking to them. He’s a really nice guy.”

Foley and Jordan came together through another minority partner, Nullah Sarker. Sarker is a part of Kosmos Company with Gerard Pique, which owns FC Andorra and wanted Jordan to be involved in the deal.

The new venture excites the Hollywood star, and he wants to be more engaged. He wants to get more involved in promoting the club. Recently, Jordan was in London at Stamford Bridge, where he attended the game between Chelsea and Bournemouth.

What’s next for AFC Bournemouth under Bill Foley?

Foley has the vision to go the same way as his NHL team. Foley, who owns the NHL team Vegas Golden Knights, has also bought a team, Henderson Silver Knights that plays in the American Hockey League. Silver Knights will serve as a development team for the Golden Knights, and this is how Foley wants to focus on Bournemouth, as well.

He wants a multi-club model with a feeder club for the English side and hopes his side isn’t relegated this season. The Las Vegas-based entrepreneur thinks it will take 5-6 seasons to bring the club into the top 10 of the Premier League and then build a consistent team.

Foley also has plans for developing Vitality Stadium, the home ground of the Cherries. Currently, the capacity of the stadium is around 11,300, and the new owner thinks it’s not enough. If you want to create a big team, the ground with a large sitting capacity will play an important role.
