A woman's been shot in the arm and a number of properties in Bedford have been shot at overnight.

Police say they have launched a large scale investigation and increased our patrols in the town.

The shots were fired in Faraday Square, Lovell Road, Foxglove Way and Romsey Way in four separate incidents which happened between 10pm yesterday and 5am this morning.

One woman was shot in the arm during the incident and has been taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say they are treating the incidents as linked and we believe they may have been targeted attacks.

In a statement to Heart:

"This will be a visible policing presence to reassure residents and help prevent any other incidents of this nature.

One woman has been arrested in connection to the incidents and has been taken to police custody for questioning."

Faraday Square, Titchfield Drive, and Romsey Way all remain closed as investigation continue.
