A man died Monday after his car rolled over and went off Malibu Canyon Road near Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, California, and plunged over a cliff.
According to Lt. Adam Zeko with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, the man's vehicle rolled over and hit a utility pole before plunging into the embankment.
The incident happened around 12.20am, about a mile north of Southern California's infamous Pacific Coast Highway.
The single-vehicle crash prompted an immediate road closure that shut down the major roadway between Calabasas and Malibu for an undisclosed time.

Zeko told one outlet that the car was northbound Monday morning when it rolled over and struck the utility pole.
From there, the vehicle went over the embankment on the hillside street and traveled down an unknown distance to its resting point.
The man inside was pronounced dead at the scene, Zeko said. The victim's name and age have not been released.
It is currently unclear what caused the vehicle to roll over.
No other vehicles were involved and no one else was injured.
An investigation into the incident remains underway.
