Industry vet was a talent manager-record producer
Robert A. Marcucci, son of legendary talent manager-record producer Robert P. “Bob” Marcucci, died July 28 at Midway Hospital in L.A. after being struck on the head by a thrown object during a foot chase. He was 38.
He had battled drug addiction since the age of 18 and apparently had returned to a mid-city drug-buying area of L.A. when he was attacked with a concrete block.
With the help of his father, he opened drug rehab center Odessa House, where he was directorand oversaw 15 people. But later he relapsed into drug use.
Marcucci was a member of the Screen Actors Guild.
His father helped launch the careers of Frankie Avalon, Fabian, Johnny Rivers and Lou Christie and produced several movies including “The Razor’s Edge” (1984). The father’s life was the basis for 1980 film “The Idol Maker” — a fictionalized account of his efforts to manage and promote teen heartthrobs.
