Anna Maxwell Martin Joins Emma Myers in BBC Drama A Good Girls Guide to Murder (EXCLU

Motherland star Anna Maxwell Martin has joined the cast of BBC drama A Good Girls Guide to Murder, Variety can reveal. She is set to play Leanne, the mother of lead character Pip Fitz-Amobi, who will be portrayed on screen by Wednesdays Emma Myers.

She is set to play Leanne, the mother of lead character Pip Fitz-Amobi, who will be portrayed on screen by “Wednesday’s” Emma Myers.

Gary Beadle (“Small Axe”) plays Pip’s father Victor while Mathew Baynton joins as Elliot Ward.

Myers leads the cast in the screen adaptation of Holly Jackson’s hit mystery series, which is produced by BBC Three, Moonage Pictures (“The Pursuit of Love”) and German co-production partner ZDFneo.

The show is set to air in the U.K. on BBC Three and iPlayer. BBC Studios, who own a minority stake in Moonage Pictures and are repping international distribution of the series, are launching sales at Mipcom this week.

“A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder” tells the story of murdered schoolgirl Andie Bell. Everyone – including the police — suspects her boyfriend Sal Singh but Myers’ Pip isn’t so sure.

“If Sal Singh isn’t a murderer and the real killer is still out there, how far will they go to keep Pip from the truth?” reads the logline.

Rounding out the cast are Henry Ashton as Max Hastings, Mitu Panicucci as Stella Chapman, India Lillie Davies as Andie Bell, Rahul Pattni as Sal Singh, Orla Hill as Ruby Foxcroft, Ephraim O.P. Sampson as Jake Lawrence, Carla Woodcock as Becca, Yasmin Al-Khudhairi as Naomi Ward, Jessica Webber as Nat Da Silva, Matthew Khan as Dylan, Georgia Aaron as Emma Hutton, Adam Astill as Toby Hastings and Annabel Mullion as Rosie Hastings.

It was previously announced Zain Iqbal would play Ravi while Asha Banks (“The Magic Flute”) is Cara, Yali Topol Margalith (“The Tattoist of Auschwitz”) is Lauren, Jude Collie (“Here We Go”) is Connor and Raiko Gohara (“Get Lost”) is Zach.

The six-episode series, which wrapped last month in the Southwest of England, is written by Poppy Cogan alongside Zia Ahmed, Ajoke Ibironke and Ruby Thomas. Florence Walker produces. Executive producers are Matthew Read, Matthew Bouch and Frith Tiplady for Moonage Pictures, with Lucy Richer and Danielle Scott-Haughton for the BBC and Dolly Wells, Holly Jackson and Poppy Cogan.

“I so enjoyed being part of ‘A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder,’” said Maxwell Martin. “Really lovely cast, crew and creatives. Can’t wait for all the people who love Holly’s book to see it brought to their screens.”

Never in my wildest dreams did I think we’d have such an incredible cast and yet – at the same time – it always had to be them, because they are perfect for these characters.”
